Young Members

This important new part of our website is now under development.

We want to add more of interest for young members -
And we want you guys to help us do it!

Please send your pictures and stories, by email, to pr@nationalgamekeepers.org.uk.

Why not tell us about your shooting - perhaps that special first pheasant or pigeon - or do you help with the gamekeeping, or work a gundog?

Do you know any good, free shooting-related games on the web that we could link our site to? (There is one here to get you thinking:  CLAY PIGEON SHOOTING from Free World Group.com)

All ideas for this Young Members' area will be welcome. Just email them in guys - and thank you!

Boys Day in Devon

Just to prove, that the future of shooting looks bright, here is a photo of the guns on a “Boys day” on the 29th January 09 at Twinney Park, North Devon.  Despite the fowl weather, all the lads really enjoyed their day. (Left to right – William Oldham, Charlie Greenway, Henry Oldham, Jason Nicholas, Daniel Shapland ).

Charlie's Birthday Widgeon

This is Charlie Greenway who recently attended an evening flight with his Dad on their local marsh in North Devon.

They couldn't find any 20 bore non – toxic cartridges at short notice, so Charlie used his Dad's 12 bore, and with his first ever shot with a 12 bore bagged a widgeon!

The flight was an early birthday treat 3 days before his 12th birthday.

Charlie hopes to become a Gamekeeper and has already filled in his application form for Sparsholt College!

Michael Gets His Fox

Michael Atchison, 17, from Sunderland, is shown here with the first fox he ever snared.

He sent it in for the website and wrote, "It gave me a great sense of satisfaction to know that I would be benefiting the gamebirds that were about to begin nesting."

Michael hopes to become a keeper when he leaves Myerscough College in Lancashire next year.

Thanks for sharing your news, Michael, and good luck with the rest of your course.

Justin Shows Joshua

This is Justin Garrod, age 9, last October with 14 woodies he shot as a guest of a neighbouring keeper in Essex. His brother Joshua, age 11, shot 6.

Their Dad is Essex Chairman of the NGO and he hopes to set up a clay shoot for NGO young members sometime soon.

The whole family are brilliant shots. Next time you out-shoot your brother, Joshua, send us a photo!
