NGO Meat Hygiene Training

For anyone selling to a game dealer

This special one day training course was designed by the NGO in 2004 and equips candidates with a certificate to prove that they are a 'trained person' under the new meat hygiene rules. Only game that comes from a shoot with at least one 'trained person' present may be supplied to game dealers who sell outside the local area.

The course covers all aspects of game meat hygiene, handling, behaviour and disease necessary to meet the new laws. Participants have found the training useful, comprehensive and good value.

During 2005 the NGO trained over 2000 gamekeepers and other experienced persons to meet this new requirement. Over 70% of shoots now have a 'trained person' present.

Courses are still available but will only be set up where groups of 30 persons or more require training at the same time and place.
