New Chairman Takes Over
16 March 2007
Lindsay Waddell began his Chairmanship of the National Gamekeepers' Organisation (NGO) when Ken Butler retired at the organisation's AGM on 15 March. Lindsay was elected unanimously to follow Ken at a meeting of the NGO's National Committee held on Sunday 3 December last year.
Lindsay (right in photo) is Headkeeper at Raby Estate in County Durham and has chaired the Moorland Branch of the NGO since it began. He is a hugely respected grouse keeper and is well known in sporting and political circles, having served on the Council of English Nature and been involved with Ministers, MPs and Peers.
After his election, Lindsay Waddell said:
"This is both an honour and a privilege for me, especially as I will be following in the footsteps of Ken Butler, under whose leadership the NGO has more than doubled in size and influence."
Ken Butler, who chaired the NGO for six years from 2001 said:
"I am delighted that Lindsay is taking over. He is experienced, wise and well known and he will make an excellent Chairman of the NGO. I wish him every success."
A generous presentation was made to Ken at the AGM, when he and his family were thanked for all they have put in to the NGO in recent years.
