Bellamy Praises Gamekeepers

World-girdling conservationist highlights role of UK gamekeepers.

Professor David Bellamy, the NGO's Patron, told gamekeepers attending the organisation’s ninth AGM in March 2006 that they were, “The most important managers of conservation in the countryside”.

In a wide-ranging and well-received speech, the veteran wildlife campaigner said he believed badger numbers needed to be reduced, although he did not accept the Government’s science linking badgers to bovine TB.

He called on scientists and gamekeepers to work together in a spirit of co-operation for the good of the countryside.”
