Inconsistent RSPB

Several wildlife organisations, led by the RSPB, wrote to the Guardian newspaper recently protesting at the granting by Natural England of two licences for gamekeepers to remove some buzzard nests in the vicinity of their pheasant release pens. They said they were "horrified" by the news and "shocked" that the public had not been consulted. The law allowing NE to licence such actions in cases of exceptional need has actually been in place since 1981. Adult buzzards have been killed at airports under its powers for many years - and none of these bodies has expressed 'horror' more
