An experienced, conscientious, single handed gamekeeper is required for a private Estate in south east Austria.

The current English gamekeeper is retiring after 18 years.

Grouse Keeper, County Durham

We are looking for a capable grouse keeper for a moor in County Durham.


The successful applicant will be responsible for a beat that is off lying to the Estates’ principal moor although they will also be required to be involved as part of the larger keepering team, working with the head keeper from time to time during key times of the year.


The beat has significant potential and would suit a self-motivated, hardworking, well-presented individual with a conscientious attitude, they will also require the following: -


  • Ability to run their own beat with a minimum of 3 years experience.
  • A sound understanding of legislation and stewardship agreements with a drive for conservation.
  • Firearms & shotgun certificates
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Their own working dogs
  • Certificates for ATV sit in and astride, sprayer and chainsaw would be preferable but not a requirement as training where needed can be provided.

Title:                            Tractor Driver / Game Worker

Hours:                          Monday to Friday, 7.00am to 4.30pm

The Shadwell Estate Company Ltd are recruiting a Tractor person to support the game department.  The successful applicant will be joining a team of 7 people who are responsible for managing our 6500 acre private south Norfolk shooting estate.


We are not able to offer accommodation with this role.


Tasks and Activities:

  • Tractor driving, spraying topping, grain carting with a Bailey Blower Trailer
  • Supporting the game department in any of their tasks
  • Maintaining ground and bird cover
  • Occasional pest control
  • Maintaining bird enclosures and general fencing
  • Work relating to rearing birds, moving, feeding and pen maintenance
  • All other ad-hoc duties as may be required by the job role
  • Working in accordance with health & safety procedures and protocols


Work Experience/Educational Requirements:


  • Previous work experience with tools, tractors and machinery is essential
  • Tractor handling and competency certificate
  • Chainsaw certificate an advantage

GAMEKEEPER, Northumberland Estates, LINHOPE


An opportunity has arisen within our team for an active individual who enjoys every aspect of the modern job.  This position is predominately hill, but the applicant must be able to work, when required, within the team covering all aspects of grouse, pheasant and partridge.


The successful candidate would need to adapt very quickly to the systems of work already in place, but also come with fresh ideas.


All methods of legal vermin control are the number one priority in a very wild environment.


Advantageous, but not compulsory, skills would be tractor and digger experience to help with our landscape, level heather regeneration works and grip blocking.


The Estate health and safety is very strict, training of staff and up to date tickets held would be continuous.


Driving licence, firearms and shotgun certificates are essential.


A 4-bedroom centrally heated house with kennels and a large kit shed are available as part of the salary package.

We are looking for a capable under-keeper for a moor in County Durham to work with grouse and wild game. This is a high and challenging moor in the North Pennines, capable of producing some of the finest driven grouse shooting in the country.
