Grouse Under-Keeper, County Durham.

We are looking for a capable under-keeper for a moor in County Durham to work with grouse and wild game. This is a high and challenging moor in the North Pennines, capable of producing some of the finest driven grouse shooting in the country.

The Yorkshire Estate of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire seek a motivated, experienced inward and outward facing  individual to lead an established and well supported game department.

With a focus on the management of the estate moorlands for red grouse, the role includes responsibility for a team of seven keepers, and sits within an established management team responsible for the different aspects of the Bolton Abbey Estate.  

The Family Principals play an active part in the Estate’s sporting activities.  The successful applicant will work closely with them and the estate director.

Game Keeper - North Yorkshire

 

Single handed pheasant and partridge keeper required on The Nawton Tower Estate, Helmsley, North Yorkshire.

The successful candidate will be responsible for shoot operations across c. 5,000 acres of the Estate and will be required to work closely with the Estate’s principal, shoot tenant and Estate manager.

Applicants must be motivated, hardworking and have proven experience in all aspects of game, deer and shoot management including rearing poults, developing drives/ habitat and running driven shoot days including management of casual staff. Good people and communication skills are a must.

A working knowledge of current wildlife, firearms and health and safety legislation is of paramount importance and must be demonstrated. Applicants must also have a full UK driving licence and valid firearms and shotgun certificates. ATV Sit Astride, DSC level 1 and 2 plus appropriate chainsaw, spraying and chemical certification is preferred.

Single handed Keeper required for small privately owned estate in Gloucestershire. Shooting 13-15 days of 150-250 birds. Excellent ground compromising of steep wooded banks and grass valley bottoms showing very sporting bird.

 

Duties to include rearing and release of pheasants, pen construction and maintenance, vermin control and the smooth running of shoot days. Some woodland work and maintenance out of season.

 

The applicant must be highly motivated, hardworking, and able to work alone. The successful applicant will report directly to the owner.

 

A full clean, driving licence, firearms and shotgun certificates are essential. Appropriate chainsaw, ATV and PA6 certificates are also desirable.
