We send our wholehearted congratulations to Alex Hogg, Chairman of the Scottish Gamekeepers Association, who has been made an MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list.
Alex is one of the great gamekeepers of his generation, who campaigns tirelessly to champion the work of the gamekeeping profession and it is fantastic that his work has been recognised in this way.
Since taking up Chairmanship of the SGA in 2000 he has been a true proponent of keepers in Scotland, their skills and value in managing the countryside.
He was awarded the NGO’s Bellamy Award in 2014, which is given to individuals who show creativity and initiative in promoting sustainable land management. Alan Titchmarsh, who presented him with the award at the time, referred to Alex’s reputation as “a bit of ‘legend’ in keepering circles” and we would certainly agree with that.
