The NGO is trying to build a picture of the anti-social behaviour faced by land managers and gamekeepers across the country to challenge any future actions to make wild camping legal in any other National Park. In England there is no general right to wild camp on most private land; Dartmoor is a rare exception.

The NGO needs details of all incidents of anti-social behaviour, if possible since 1 January 2025.

The NGO needs your help. In July, we sent an email to all members in response to a recent ruling by the Supreme Court in relation to wild camping on Dartmoor.

These may include:
  • Wild camping
  • Fly tipping/littering
  • Illegal off-roading
  • Livestock worrying
  • Disposable barbecue use and subsequent fires
  • Lighting of camp fires

We need:

  • A brief description of the event
  • Date and time
  • A location such as county, grid reference or what 3 words
  • Photograph (if available)
  • Were the police involved?
  • Was a crime number issued?
  • Was there a financial cost/loss?

Please send the photographs and accompanying information to John.clarke@nationalgamekeepers.org.uk or call John on 07824 099937 if you would like to discuss anything further.
